This kiss between Winona
Ryder and David Harbor in StrangerThings was spontaneous
On Friday, the
highly-anticipated final episode of Stranger Things was released on Netflix and
they really made the internet go crazy. At one point, the Daily Mail reported
that the entire site was returning error messages to users trying to view the
full Season 4 ending.
Fans have long noticed
the sizzling chemistry between actors Winona Ryder and David Harbour, who plays
troubled mother Joyce Byers and cop Jim Hopper. The author also chronicles and
writes between an escape from a labor camp and a fight with the Demogorgons a
passionate kiss for potential lovers in Russia. And then the players decide to
take matters into their own hands and, just to be sure, kiss gently and
improvise pouting again for the camera.
The official report for
the writers' room confirms that the moment was spontaneous. They wrote,
"This kiss was not written, Winona and David added it on the day of
filming."
The season set a record
as the #1 English-language series on Netflix, and the show garnered 930.3
million streaming views in its first 28 days on Netflix. The previous hour
record was held by Bridgerton.
In a behind-the-scenes
interview on "Beyond Stranger Things," Harbor stated that he was
aware of the "shipping fees" that fans paid for his character and
Ryder's character.
"The fans call him
Jopper or something," he said. "They all pass on that connection to
Hopper and Joyce, and so do I, because I feel they're both really lonely, lost
people who really need each other."
In February this year,
creators Matt and Ross Duffer informed viewers in an open letter that Season 5
would be the last of the show and that they had it all planned out. We don't
know yet if there is a happy ending for these two lovebirds.
